// THE PROCESS //
CHALLENGES TO SOLVE
One of the biggest shifts in this project was transitioning from Adobe XD to Figma. I originally began the layout and planning in XD, but midway through the project, I moved into Figma to take advantage of its more collaborative, streamlined features. The change in software required rethinking workflows and rebuilding assets from scratch, but ultimately improved my efficiency and flexibility.
Another major challenge was evolving the design direction. I initially leaned toward a more decorative, visually rich layout, but soon realized that an overly stylized interface competed with the editorial content. I made a deliberate shift toward a cleaner, more strategic layout that reduces embellishment and instead focuses on whitespace, typographic rhythm, and user flow to enhance readability and ease of navigation.
RESEARCH & DISCOVERY
The inspiration phase began by studying several digital editorial experiences, such as Kinfolk, The Great Discontent, and Cereal. These examples revealed how editorial tone, rhythm, and photography can elevate a topic into something sensory and compelling. The choice to focus on interior design as the theme came from both personal interest and the opportunity to blend imagery with clean, atmospheric layouts.
// THE SOLUTION //
DESIGN DECISIONS
• Developed a custom name and logotype for the magazine
• Designed responsive headers with minimal navigation for clarity
• Created a landing page acting as the table of contents with internal page links
• Designed two unique article pages using customized title treatments and consistent visual styling
• Built an “About” page introducing the magazine concept and editorial contributors
• Incorporated mood-inspired imagery to evoke the tone of thoughtful interior design
• Applied an elegant, cohesive color palette to unify the experience
• Designed a footer for global navigation, contact info, and social links
• Optimized layouts for mobile and tablet readability while maintaining editorial character

The final site creates a calm, inviting editorial environment for readers to explore interior design ideas. It captures a magazine feel through consistent rhythm, large images, and thoughtful negative space, while optimizing the experience for digital interaction on tablets and mobile devices.
